Fishing in the Harlow Area

Come and fish in our well stocked lakes and river

Fish with friends... Young or old, the Stort Valley Angling Society is the angling for you!
Have you ever considered joining a local fishing club or society but dismissed the idea for lack of information?
If so, then read on.

We at Stort Valley A.S. are looking to increase our membership. Both senior and junior members would be welcomed. We are fairly small compared to many other clubs or societies but ALL members are encouraged to take an active role within the Society. We hold meetings at Burnt Mill Sports & Social in Harlow on the first and third Tuesday of each month starting at 8pm. Here we discuss all our Society business and everybody is encouraged to get involved and express their points of view. In our opinion democracy is paramount in the successful running of any Club or Society and we try to promote good and healthy discussions on all matters regarding angling and it's environment.

Locally, in collaboration with Harlow Council, we control the fishing on both Netteswell and Oakwood ponds as well as a substantial stretch of the River Stort between Parndon and Harlow Mills. All these waters are well stocked with various species of fish. Day and Season tickets are available for all waters (with concessioons) whilst Society membership fees allow members to fish freely in Harlow. Membership of the London Anglers' Association (LAA) is also available to members should they wish to join (for further information on membership fees please contact our Treasurer, Malcolm Gregg on 07810  846 333).

We also encourage members to attend our ten monthly coach outings, where we try to satisfy the various fishing needs of ALL our members. Canal, lake and river fishing on many different venues requiring versatile skills are chosen democratically by the MEMBERS for those outings. In addition to these outings we also have various Cup competitions throughout our "season" which runs from March to December. There is also an annual night match and "Special" outing where we could go ANYWHERE and fish for ANYTHING!

There is also a flourishing and successful match group within the Society and anybody interested in oarticipating in this side of the sport would be encouraged to do so.
